Intermediate Contemporary - 7:15pm-8:30pm w/Jeryl Pilapil-Brown

Modern principles include: centering, alignment, gravity, breath, contraction, release, fall and recovery, suspension, balance and off-balance, tension and relaxation, opposition and emotion. Contemporary dance is very interpretive in its choreography and often focuses on emotions and storytelling with or without music. Contemporary dance can be balletic or abstract, jazz-influenced or lyrical, structured or unconventional. Modern dance pioneers such as Martha Graham and

Merce Cunningham paved the way for a new contemporary technique and vocabulary to flourish and influence how we dance, and it continues to grow in popularity. Dancers are challenged both physically and emotionally and encouraged to push the boundaries of their dance experience.
